PHOENIX — Fans of the original Minder Binders in Tempe will be able to take home a piece of the iconic restaurant this weekend when hundreds of items will be auctioned off.
More than 500 items were expected to be sold by EJ’s Auction and Consignment — located near 59th Avenue and Bell Road in Glendale — on Saturday morning.
The auction was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening one hour earlier. Some items were also open to bidding online.
“Whether you lived it, or you just heard about the lore of Minder Binders, this is an incredible chance to own a piece of history,” Erik Hoyer, owner and auctioneer of EJ’s Auction & Consignment, told AZ Big Media.
The bar, which opened in the early 1970s before closing down about 40 years later, was a Tempe staple. The huge red barn on the corner of McClintock and University drives was loaded with a slew of odd items, most of which will be sold.
“I’m sure we’ll have a lot of nostalgic bidders who will want to own a piece of their youth and history,” Hoyer told the outlet.
The online listing included everything from vintage crocodile hides to antique wagon wheels and even old practice artillery shells.
Another restaurant, the Mission at Minder Binders, opened in the same spot as the original a few years ago. It was temporarily closed over the summer for another remodel.
