PHOENIX — A small but growing number of resorts in Arizona are letting people buy day passes to enjoy the amenities without having to book a room.
“This is for people who don’t need to book a room but want to spend the afternoon at a nice resort for the pool, for the spa or for other amenities,” said Amanda Szabo, founder of the California startup ResortPass.
Her company provides the booking platform and makes it easy for guests to book a resort pass online. Six hotels in Arizona have signed up and they offer amenities such as pools, water slides, hot tubs and cabanas.
“People can go online right now, make a booking, go to the resort and take a daycation,” Szabo said.
Jeffrey Johnson, director of rooms for the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch, said it was the first in the Valley to offer the pass.
“We happened to see it in California and saw it as an opportunity to be able to engage the pool, drive revenue, and get some exposure to the hotel from maybe folks who haven’t gotten the experience,” he said.
The pass to access the pools costs $35 for adults and $25 for children. People can also rent a daybed for $200 or a cabana for $450.
Other Arizona resorts offering the pass are Arizona Grand Resort and Spa, Andaz Scottsdale Resort and Spa, the Omni Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Montelucia, Royal Palms Resort and Spa, and Westin Kierland Resort and Spa.
