Here’s another example of why it’s so important to protect your bank account information.

“It is entirely possible that with the right information, someone can create false accounts in your name,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said. “And by the time you find out, the damage has already been done.”

That’s exactly what happened in this case from November 2017. A woman got hold of a 72-year-old man’s checking account information and created fake checks and fake IDs to use with them.

“We have her using them several times,” Rothschild said. “The first time is at a Quick Trip between Dunlap (Avenue) and Northern (Avenue) on Seventh Street. We also have photos of her at 43rd Avenue and McDowell (Road) at a Fry’s and we know that she’s used them in the East Valley.”

The blonde was seen driving a small red car.

Our next case will have you keeping a closer eye on your wallet while you shop.

“On Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at about [2 p.m.], our victim was shopping at a Target store near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road,” Rothschild said.

Someone took her credit card and used it in the same store while she was still shopping. They bought $650 in prepaid credit cards.

Rothschild said a woman is seen on store video making the purchase, but “what isn’t seen is the theft of the credit card directly from the purse.”
