Snowbowl gets 2 inches of early-season snow

Fall barely had time to unpack its pumpkin spice and sweaters before winter dropped off a little something at Arizona Snowbowl.

The ski resort near Flagstaff reported 2 inches of overnight snowfall Tuesday, Sept. 29, sharing a celebratory “IT SNOWED!” post and video of the early-season delivery.

“This must be a sign that a solid winter is on the way,” the resort wrote.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff said a storm system drew moisture from Hurricane Polo, which brought widespread precipitation to northern Arizona after dumping monsoon rain in the valley.

Before you get your skis out of the closet, the snow was quickly washed away by lingering showers and forecasted dry weather.

Snowbowl’s lifts are scheduled to start spinning for the season on Nov. 20.
