East Valley sees isolated showers after storm kicked up dust

Parts of the East Valley saw isolated showers on Wednesday night after a weather system kicked up dust earlier in the evening.

The moisture popped up over Tempe and Mesa around 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service for Phoenix. Meteorologists noted that most residents probably won’t see any rain drops, but cautioned the motorists who do to slow down.

The sprinkles came after a weather system pushed dust toward Loop 202 Santan Freeway from the south near Arizona Avenue around 4:45 p.m.

The weather authority said the earlier storm moved through Maricopa and Sun Lakes before hitting the Phoenix metro around 5 p.m.

That weather system caused multiple road closures and downed powerlines in Pima County.
