Phoenix ties daily heat record, nearly hits triple-digits for 3rd straight day in April

PHOENIX — Phoenix residents nearly endured a third consecutive 100-degree afternoon on Saturday, as an unseasonably warm April continues.

The reading at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is the official measuring spot by the National Weather Service, peaked at 99 degrees. The Sky Harbor thermometer displayed 103 degrees on Friday, the hottest day of 2025 so far.

Saturday’s daily high tied a record set in 1936, per NWS.

A weekly forecast had projected Saturday to reach 100 degrees and rewrite the daily record.

The unofficial low was 68 degrees at 6:38 a.m., with 60 being the normal daily value.

Future Phoenix weather outlook

Beginning Sunday, the daily high temperatures are expected to drop into the mid- to low-90s. Sunday is forecasted to peak at 93 degrees and be mostly cloudy before Monday through Wednesday should present sunny skies and highs of 94, 93 and 94, respectively.

Rainfall is unlikely the next few days, with NWS giving just a 14% chance of Phoenix receiving 0.01 inches over the period of 11 a.m. Saturday to Tuesday at 5 a.m.

The Weather Channel projects temperatures to drop to 81 degrees on Thursday and 75 on Friday and Saturday to kick off Easter weekend.
