Phoenix reaches 100 degrees again, breaks daily heat record on hottest day 2025

PHOENIX – Friday was the hottest day of the year so far in Phoenix as the city broke a daily heat record.

The thermometer at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for the city’s official readings, had reached 103 degrees.

The previous record for April 11 was 99 degrees from 2003.

It was the second consecutive triple-digit day in Phoenix, which peaked at 100 degrees on Thursday. That was the previous hottest day of 2025, and it tied the record high for the date.

Another daily heat record expected Saturday

The spring hot spell isn’t through. Another record in the 100s is in the forecast for Saturday.

Valley highs are normally in the mid-80s this time of year.

“It’s not completely out of the ordinary to see this kind of heat this early in the year, but certainly it’s not what we typically would see,” Ryan Worley of the NWS in Phoenix told KTAR News 92.3 FM earlier this week.

Down the road, temperatures are expected to start dropping Sunday, when the Valley forecast calls for highs in the middle to lower 90s.

“There might be a few spots that actually see some readings in the 80s by the middle portion of next week, which is a little more typical for this time of the year,” Worley said. “Thankfully … not an extended period of abnormally warm conditions.”
