Over 25,000 utility customers without power in aftermath of raging Valley thunderstorm

PHOENIX — Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across metro Phoenix on Monday, triggering widespread power outages.

These outages persisted after the National Weather Service (NWS) told KTAR News 92.3 FM around 3:15 p.m. that the storm had largely blown out of metro Phoenix.

Around 27,400 utility customers across the Valley were without power as of 4 p.m.:

• According to the SRP outage map, 17,200 of the utility customers enduring power outages belonged to them.
• Meanwhile, the APS outage map showed around 10,193 of its customers without power.

The APS map showed 2,808 customers were still without power four hours later at 8 p.m.

Details about storm that caused metro Phoenix power outages

The powerful storm drenched many parts of the Valley with rain.

Some parts of Scottsdale received as much as 0.94 inches, while Tempe received as much as 0.75 inches, according to the Maricopa County Flood Control District.

A flood watch remains in effect across the Valley until 8 p.m.
