Streak of record highs in Phoenix reaches 6 days as historic March heat wave continues
The historic March heat wave continued Monday as Phoenix attained a record daily high temperature for a sixth consecutive day.

PHOENIX – The historic March heat wave continued Monday as Phoenix attained a record daily high temperature for a sixth consecutive day.
It hit 94 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for the city’s officials readings, around 11:55 a.m.
That surpassed the previous mark for March 23 of 93 degrees, which was set in 2023.
Monday’s high wound up at 100 degrees, the coolest of what is now a six-day streak of triple-digit days in Phoenix.

On three of those days, Thursday through Saturday, it hit 105, the hottest March temperatures ever recorded in Arizona’s largest city.
The normal high temperature in Phoenix for this time of year is 80 degrees.
Until last week, Phoenix had only reached triple digits during the third month of the year one time: on March 26, 1988.
If the latest forecast is accurate, the streak of record high temperatures could reach 11 days before it ends. Sunday is the next day when the projected high is below the daily record for the date.

Phoenix has plenty of company when it comes to historic heat. A massive high pressure system has been pushing temperatures to record highs in multiple cities across the western and central United States since last week.
March’s heat would have been virtually impossible without human-caused climate change, according to a report Friday by World Weather Attribution, an international group of scientists who study the causes of extreme weather events.
