Phoenix reaches 100 degrees for 1st time this year, ties daily record

PHOENIX — Phoenix reached 100 degrees for the first time of 2025 on Thursday and tied a record high for the date, to boot.

The record for April 10 was last set in 2018.

The year’s previous high temperature at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for the city’s officials readings, was 99 degrees on March 25, a record for the date.

When does Phoenix usually reach 100 degrees?

On average, Phoenix’s first triple-digit day of the year arrives on May 2, according to the NWS.

Thursday was just the start of an unusually warm spell during a time when highs are normally in the mid-80s.

The forecast calls for more triple-digit temperatures and daily records on Friday and Saturday.

Down the road, temperatures are expected to start dropping Sunday, when the Valley forecast calls of highs in the middle to lower 90s.
