PHOENIX – Motorists hitting the Valley streets this weekend won’t have to worry about full freeway closures for improvement work this weekend.
However, a few streets and an on-ramp could require some planning to avoid delays, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for July 18-21.
Here are the potential snags in your road trip to watch out for. All times below are subject to change.
Valley freeways traffic forecast: What to look for along Loop 101
Expect some lane restrictions along the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway, which will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions between 35th and 59th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday for a widening project.
Furthermore, ADOT says 51st Avenue will be closed in both directions near Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday due to bridge work. The Westbound Loop 101 frontage road will also be also closed between 35th and 51st avenues.

Other potential snags to watch for on Valley freeways
This weekend’s Valley freeways traffic advisory also noted that the Eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway on-ramp at Price Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for a widening project.
Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will also be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 Pima Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Bridge work for a widening project is the reason.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes such as detours along the Loop 101 frontage roads between Raintree Drive and Bell Road. Also, the northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Raintree Drive is scheduled to close for two months starting at 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
