Person dies after jumping from overpass at ‘Stack’ interchange in Phoenix

A person died after jumping from an overpass at the Interstate 10-Interstate 17 “Stack” interchange in Phoenix on Wednesday night, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of I-10 and I-17 around 8 p.m. Detectives who were already in the area found someone on the I-10, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the person dead. The individual’s gender, name and age have not been released.

Preliminary information suggested that multiple cars hit the person who had jumped and did not remain the scene.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the hit-and-runs.

All related traffic restrictions were lifted by Thursday morning.

Westbound I-10 was not affected by the closure.
