Pedestrian struck, killed while walking on I-17 near Indian School Road in Phoenix
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 17 in Phoenix on Thursday night, authorities said.

PHOENIX – A person walking on Interstate 17 in Phoenix was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night, authorities said.
The vehicle-pedestrian collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on southbound I-17 near Indian School Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The pedestrian died after being taken to a hospital.
Southbound I-17 was closed while the scene was under investigation but was reopened before the Friday morning commute.
It’s unclear why the person was on the freeway, DPS said.
No other details about the incident were made available.

Seems that nearly all pedestrian fatalities occur at night, oftentimes when wearing dark clothing, and almost always jaywalking in the middle of a block, or - in this case - on a freeway where people aren't supposed to be walking in the first place
That had to really hurt.
I'm sure at some point walking down the freeway seemed like a good idea.
So tragic.
