PHOENIX – Traffic on Interstate 10 south of metro Phoenix was delayed in both directions after a serious crash during the Friday morning commute, authorities said.
The multivehicle collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on eastbound I-10 near Casa Blanca Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
At first, just the right lane was blocked. But a full eastbound closure was initiated before 8:30 a.m. as the crash investigation progressed. Traffic started getting through again about an hour later.
DPS said the driver of a car that collided with a commercial truck carrying produce was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The Arizona Department of Transportation traffic map showed significant backups in both directions of I-10 approaching the crash site throughout the morning.

I like riding buses. It is the ultimate privacy. Nobody ever talks to you. You sit high enough to look over the tops of the cars and the bridge railings and see the world. You can read and think.
