1 driver dead, 1 in serious condition after head-on collision in West Valley

PHOENIX – One driver was killed and another was seriously injured Friday morning in a head-on collision at a West Valley intersection, authorities said.

A sedan and SUV collided at 51st and Peoria avenues around 6:20 a.m., according to the Glendale Police Department.

One man died in the head-on collision and another was hospitalized with injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening.

Police expected the intersection to remain closed in all directions for several hours as part of the ongoing investigation.
