A Glendale intersection is closed after a man was hit by a work truck while he was trying to catch a bus during the morning rush hour Friday, authorities said.
Officers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision at 51st and Glendale avenues just before 7 a.m., according to the Glendale Police Department.
They found a man who was breathing but had suffered critical injuries. There was no update on his condition after he was taken to a hospital, police said.
The driver of the work truck, who called 911, said the pedestrian ran in front of him.
Based on preliminary information, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, police said.
Authorities expect the intersection to be closed for the investigation through most of the morning rush hour.
Commuters in the area are being advised to use Bethany Home Road or Northern Avenue as east-west alternatives and 59th and 43rd avenues as north-south detours.
