ADOT completes $24.9M improvement project on highway east of Payson

PHOENIX — Drivers along a 22‑mile stretch of State Route 260 east of Payson now have more room to maneuver, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT said Monday it recently completed a project to give this section of highway new shoulders and other safety improvements.

As part of the Rim Road to Gibson Road Improvement Project, crews added 5‑foot shoulders on both sides of the road between mile markers 282 and 304.

The project covers the area between Forest Lakes and Heber‑Overgaard near the Mogollon Rim.

The $24.9 million project also included:

• Upgraded guardrails
• Spot pavement repairs
• Improved drainage
• New roadway striping

ADOT said these improvements support its commitment to safer travel and a stronger state economy.
