Commute expected to be extra busy in West Valley Thursday due to Arizona Cardinals game

PHOENIX — Evening rush hour traffic is expected to be extra busy in the West Valley on Thursday due to the Arizona Cardinals hosting a prime-time game.

The Cardinals will be hosting the Seattle Seahawks in the “Thursday Night Football” game, which is scheduled to kick off at 5:15 p.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

Due to this, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is warning commuters about possible delays in the afternoon and evening hours.

Where will gameday traffic be heaviest for Cardinals vs. Seahawks?

ADOT said drivers should expect heavy traffic on westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix, along with the north- and southbound lanes of the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway.

Due to this, the department advises all members of the Red Sea to arrive well in advance of kickoff.

ADOT added that fans coming to the game from the East Valley should consider using the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway to avoid driving through downtown Phoenix.

RV lots will open at 12:45 p.m. and parking lots will open at 1:15 p.m., according to State Farm Stadium.

Heavy traffic should also be expected in the West Valley after the game, which is expected to end around 8:30 p.m.
