Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway westbound on-ramp closing for 2 months

PHOENIX — A two-monthlong closure of the westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway on-ramp at 27th Avenue will start Monday night.

The on-ramp closure that will start at 11:30 p.m. is due to a multimillion-dollar reconstruction project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Drivers who rely on the westbound on-ramp should enter the freeway at 35th Avenue, ADOT said.

When will the westbound on-ramp at 27th Avenue on Loop 101 reopen?

That project is part of a broader freeway widening project west of Interstate 17.

The $140 million project, which started in September 2024, will widen Loop 101 between I-17 and 75th Avenue.

The entire project’s duration will take about 2.5 years and has a projected completion in spring 2027, according to ADOT.

Eventually, one lane of traffic will be added in each direction over the 6 miles between Interstate 17 in Phoenix and 75th Avenue in Glendale.

Several bridges will be widened, pavements will be surfaced and new freeway lighting will be added as part of the project as well.
