PHOENIX – An East Valley restaurant and sports grill is closed indefinitely after a fire.

The Hub Grill and Bar, a local chain, said nobody was hurt in the fire Friday at its Stapley Drive location in Mesa. However, it will take an unknown amount of time to repair the damage.

Employees called the Mesa Fire and Medical Department and started evacuating patrons after noticing smoke coming from vents, authorities said.

When crews arrived at the restaurant at 1860 S. Stapley Drive, they encountered an active fire in the roof. They extinguished it before it could spread to other parts of the building.

No information about the cause of the fire was made available.

The Hub Grill and Bar has three other East Valley locations

For the time being, fans of The Hub Grill and Bar can get their fix at the chain’s three other locations, two in Mesa and one in Ahwatukee.

The branch at Baseline and Sossaman roads in Mesa had to be closed for an extended period after a fire a few hours before midnight on New Year’s Eve in 2020.
