Oro Brewing Company changes plan, reopens in downtown Mesa

PHOENIX — The award-winning Oro Brewing Company in downtown Mesa has reopened after announcing closure plans earlier this year.

The business initially announced on Instagram that it would pour its last pints on Jan. 25.

However, the plan to close and sell the brewery and taproom on Main Street east of Country Club Drive has hit several road bumps, according to a Saturday announcement.

“Current circumstances won’t allow for an easy ‘shut the door and hand over the keys.’ Instead, we have decided to stay open and continue serving the community to the absolute best of our ability,” the business said.

They are back to their regular hours and have restocked the bodega, so it’s now returned to its old self after temporarily reopening first as just a tap room.

Why is Oro Brewing Company reopening?

Previously, the business said ownership of the space would transition to Armando Hernandez, from Tacos Chiwas and other local ventures.

Hernandez told Phoenix magazine he and Nadia Holguin — his wife and business partner — planned to reopen the taproom under the new name Mesa Brewing Company in mid-February or early March.

However, it is unclear if they are still going to take over the venue.

For now, the future of the brewery is unresolved. Oro Brewing Company advised fans to follow its Instagram for updates.
