PHOENIX – Mon Chéri, the Scottsdale restaurant that made headlines last year when a pair of intruders were caught on video getting intimate, is shutting down.
Lexi Caliskan opened the champagne café and charcuterie bar within a converted 1950s Old Town home at 7014 E. First Ave., near Goldwater Boulevard and Indian School Road, in early 2024.
Caliskan posted a long video to the restaurant’s Facebook page on Tuesday explaining her decision to move on.
“First of all, thank you to the 300,000 customers that I have fed over the last two years. It has been one of the most humbling journeys. I was a C-level beauty executive when I got into this business, and I was not humble. And I really thought this was going to be an easy journey, and it was not,” Caliskan said in the video.
She went on to detail various personal, legal and financial struggles, including a “really tragic” divorce and custody battle and her bank calling in the restaurant’s mortgage.
As of Thursday, the Mon Chéri website said the Scottsdale restaurant was closing this week without specifying a final day.
With pink-colored food and floral decorations, the café was promoted as a space where women could gather, relax and celebrate special occasions.
‘Love birds’ desecrated Mon Chéri floral display
In October 2025, an uninvited couple got a little too comfortable.
Two burglars allegedly broke into Mon Chéri and had sex inside a rose display designed as a photo op for guests before taking off with money from the cash registers.
The restaurant posted surveillance camera footage of the suspects on social media asking for help identifying the “love birds.”
Within weeks, a man and a woman had been arrested in connection with the break-in.
