Canada-based fast-casual Japanese restaurant makes US debut in Chandler

Edo Japanese Grill, a fast-casual Japanese chain based in Canada, is making its U.S. debut in Chandler.

PHOENIX — A Canadian fast-casual franchise known for its Japanese food is making its U.S. debut with a new grill in Chandler.

Edo Japanese Grill will officially open at 2780 W. Chandler Boulevard on March 15.

Visitors can buy chicken, beef or vegetable teriyaki bowls for the discounted price of $4.50 all day.

The eatery is one mile west of a popular Asian grocery store called 99 Ranch, which sits in a strip mall with various Pan-Asian businesses. The Chandler Ranch shopping center is also home to Daiso, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, 85° C Bakery Café, Somisomi Soft Serve and Teso Life.

Edo Japanese Grill in Chandler will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

What’s there to eat at Edo Japanese Grill in Chandler?

The brand is known for its signature teppanyaki-style cooking, which involves cooking on a flat iron griddle in front of diners.

Edo Japanese Grill also is popular for its made-to-order, customizable menu with shaved beef bowls, hand-rolled sushi, bento boxes and poke bowls.

Craving some crunch? There’s also Tokyo fried chicken. All that hearty food can be washed down with bubble tea.

Edo Japanese Grill has over 200 restaurants across Canada

The brand opened its first restaurant in Calgary, Canada in 1979. Since then, it’s expanded to over 200 locations across Canada.

Greg Vogeli, the vice president of business development and corporate affairs of Edo Japanese Grill, said company leaders are excited to expand to the U.S.

“We selected Chandler as our first U.S. location because of its sustained growth and reputation as a vibrant, welcoming community that continues to attract new residents,” Vogeli told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday. “It’s the perfect place to introduce our unique, Japanese-inspired experience, bringing a taste of what’s already loved by millions.”
