PHOENX – An Arizona barbecue restaurant has started repurposing beef tallow from its kitchens for a new line of skin care products and candles.

Caldwell County BBQ is now selling the Caldwell Cosmetics brand at its two restaurants as well as online, with nationwide shipping available.

The line is produced in small batches using 100% prime grade beef tallow from the Caldwell County BBQ kitchens in Gilbert and Queen Creek.

“Beef tallow is incredibly rich in nutrients that support skin health, and it’s something we already produce with care and integrity,” Hannah Patterson, Caldwell County BBQ brand manager, said in a press release Friday. “Creating Caldwell Cosmetics was a natural next step. It allows us to offer a product that’s not only effective, but also sustainable and deeply rooted in our commitment to purity, simplicity and effectiveness.”

What products are being made with Caldwell County BBQ beef tallow?

The initial selection consists of four products made with the rendered animal fat: lip balm, whipped balm, body lotion and scented candles.

The lip balm comes in four varieties — coconut, blueberry, strawberry and watermelon – and sells for $3.75, according to prices listed on the Caldwell Cosmetics website.

The whipped balm and body lotion are both offered in three scents: warm vanilla sugar, lavender and cinnamon pumpkin. The balm costs $16 for a 2-ounce container and the lotion goes for $14 for an 8-ounce bottle.

The hand-poured candles are priced at $20 and come in warm vanilla sugar, cinnamon pumpkin and pine.

The cosmetics line isn’t the only new venture from Caldwell County BBQ. A third restaurant location is under construction in Peoria and is expected to open in 2026.
