PHOENIX — Construction of a 203-unit rental home community in Flagstaff officially started on Tuesday, according to developers.
Upon completion, Liv Sky Cottages will spread across 32 acres.
The new Flagstaff cottage community will comprise of 117 one-bedroom, 35 two-bedroom and 51 three-bedroom homes. Ten percent of these residences will be for low-income families.

The rental homes will be within the Timber Sky master-planned community, which is located off Route 66 between Flagstaff Ranch Road and Woody Mountain Road.
The community is made possible through a partnership between Wespac Residential, Inc., Vintage Partners and Liv Communities, which recently opened a senior community in Phoenix.
Heidi Arave-Noonan, vice president of Liv Multifamily, said the cottage community will blend into Flagstaff’s natural landscape while using sustainable building practices.
“Liv Sky Cottages reflects our commitment to creating vibrant, connected communities where residents can thrive,” Arave-Noonan said in a Tuesday news release. “Flagstaff’s natural beauty and strong community spirit make it an ideal location for this project.”

The community will have a playground, walking paths, garden beds, a dog park, gathering spaces, EV chargers and more.
There will also be a checker/chess area and three frisbee golf targets, according to the release. Some of the rental homes will even have solar panels.
Wespac Residential will be in charge of infrastructure development. Its project will improve local roadways with half-street extensions along U.S. Route 66 and Woody Mountain Road. It will also improve pedestrian pathways and extend sidewalks.
