Biggs accuses Hobbs of ‘slanderous’ accusations, says he’s confident he’ll win governor’s race

"After she's blown all that money against us and a lot of slanderous things that she said about me, she can't shake us and we're going to win this," Andy Biggs said.

With less than two weeks until the election, Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs says he’s pushing to reach voters beyond his party as he faces a campaign spending gap against opponent Katie Hobbs.

The Hobbs campaign has spent $17.8 million during the election cycle, compared with $5.3 million for Biggs’ campaign, according to state campaign finance records.

“We knew that she would have substantial amounts of money in her campaign. That’s the way it always is in this state,” Biggs told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News on Wednesday.

However, Biggs said the spending gap was expected and argued that reaching voters with his message would help him overcome it.

“The reality is this margin is really close. Her internal show is dead heat. Our internal show is dead heat,” Biggs said.

Biggs also accused Hobbs of making “slanderous” statements about him, referring to attack ads that accused him of protecting child predators.

The ads reference a 2013 bill that would have allowed the Arizona Department of Public Safety to take over policing duties after a local marshal’s office was accused of prioritizing church interests over child safety. The measure died while Biggs was Senate president.

“And after she’s blown all that money against us and a lot of slanderous things that she said about me, she can’t shake us and we’re going to win this,” Biggs said.

He and his running mate, lieutenant governor candidate Sine Kerr, have traveled across the state, including outreach to voters who aren’t Republicans in an effort to broaden his support in the final days of the campaign.

“So, we’re doing all that. We’re just pulling out the stops, working 24/7,” Biggs said. “We’ll sleep when we’re done.”

Biggs doesn't like deceptive ads and yet he has "Democrats For Biggs" signs all over town.

Biggs should be doing time for seditious conspiracy, not running for AZ governor.

This is a NO brainer, we already know how bad Hobbs was and is, horrific. When you rely on California for your fuel, you have problems, they have the highest gas prices in USA. California relies on imported fuel from the Middle East because they closed their refineries. Arizona's gas prices rose 90% during Hobbs term, that is pathetic. We are also having a severe water shortage and for years they can't negotiate with these issues. I will give Biggas an opportunity because he will fix this!
