A man is dead after a metal plate fell on him at a construction site in El Mirage on Thursday, according to initial reports.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a metal plate fell on him at a construction site in El Mirage on Thursday, according to initial reports.
ABC15 reported that, according to the El Mirage Police Department, the incident happened just after 9 a.m. at the BNSF Automotive Distribution Center, near the US 60 and Thompson Ranch Road.
The man was reportedly found unresponsive and trapped under a metal plate that was more than 1,000 pounds.
He was later pronounced dead by firefighters.
Police said that the man was working on the BNSF property as a contracted worker, according to ABC15.
Details on what led up to the man’s death have not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
