A worker is dead after being hit by equipment on a construction site in Buckeye on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A worker is dead after being hit by equipment on a construction site in Buckeye on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Buckeye Police Department, the fatal industrial accident happened on a site near Historic U.S. 80 and Miller Road.

Police identified the person killed as 52-year-old Luis Valdez.

According to authorities, another worker was operating a loader — which is a piece of heavy equipment used to move loose materials — when it struck Valdez.

The next of kin has been notified, police said.
