Man gets 25-year prison sentence for fatal Phoenix stabbing in 2024

PHOENIX – A man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a fatal stabbing in central Phoenix over a year ago, authorities announced Wednesday.

A Maricopa County Superior Court jury found Damian Mitchell guilty of second-degree murder on Dec. 16, 2025. He had 390 days of time served when he was sentenced on Jan. 30, according to court documents.

Mitchell, 48, followed 29-year-old Reminisce Biddle and stabbed him after the two men exchanged words near Seventh Avenue and Osborn Road on Dec. 29, 2024, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Biddle rode his bike to a nearby grocery store for help and collapsed after he walked in.

Surveillance video showed Mitchell buying a knife at the same store before the fatal stabbing, prosecutors said.

“This defendant chose to turn a brief encounter into a moment of violence, taking Reminisce’s life and leaving his family and loved ones with irreparable loss,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a press release. “I’m thankful to prosecutor Bernita Clark for getting justice for Reminisce and his family and ensuring his killer is held accountable.”
