Woman dead after being struck by vehicle while crossing Phoenix street mid-block

An adult woman died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a Phoenix street mid-block on Friday night.

An adult woman died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a Phoenix street mid-block on Friday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian near 20th Avenue and Camelback Road around 9:50 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, first responders located the woman unresponsive in the roadway. The Phoenix Fire Department transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

Investigators evaluated the motorist for impairment, but officers observed no signs, police said.

The driver was not injured in the collision.

Detectives from the Vehicular Crimes Unit took over the investigation and process the scene.

Preliminary evidence indicates the woman was attempting to cross Camelback Road outside of a designated crosswalk when she was struck.

Additional details regarding the fatal incident remain under investigation.

If these people don't know how to cross a street, then they have no business being outside & should stay home. Dang, learning how to cross a street is a basic thing you should learn when you're little.
