New Arizona polling shows presidential tossup, with Senate race getting tighter

Arizona polling conducted the week before Election Day shows the presidential race as a tossup and the U.S. Senate race getting tighter.

Republican Donald Trump has a slim 48%-47% lead over Democrat Kamala Harris in the race for the Grand Canyon State’s 11 electoral votes, according to findings released Thursday, five days before the 2024 general election, by Phoenix-based pollster Noble Predictive Insights (NPI).

Meanwhile, Democrat Ruben Gallego saw his lead over Republican Kari Lake shrink to 48%-44%.

Study found no Arizona cities ranked among top 25 safest in America

No major Arizona city cracked the top 25 in a recent study on the safest places to live in the United States.

WalletHub’s “Safest Cities in America (2024)” compared 182 cities based on 41 key safety metrics, with focus on home and community, natural disaster risk and financial safety.

Gilbert earned the highest position (31st) while Phoenix placed a dismal 149th. Scottsdale fared the second-best (39th), with Chandler (46th), Peoria (69th), Mesa (85th) and Tempe (92nd) also making top-100 appearances.

Donald Trump interviewed by Tucker Carlson in Glendale

PHOENIX — Former President Donald Trump spoke on multiple topics in an interview with Tucker Carlson during an event in Glendale on Thursday.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, took the stage with the former Fox News personality in Carlson on the final night of the “Tucker Carlson Live Tour,” which spanned across 15 cities throughout September.

It was a chance for the former president to reflect on his presidency and what he’d do if he were to get elected and step into office on Jan. 20.

“We had the greatest economy in the history of our country,” Trump said of his presidency. “We rebuilt the entire U.S. military; we defeated ISIS and we had no wars. … We had an unbelievably successful administration.”

Wildlife officials relocate mama bear, cubs from Arizona town

A mama bear and her cubs were getting too comfortable with human areas in an Arizona town and were moved to another location, authorities said Friday.

The mama bear, called a sow, and her two cubs were seen in a Crown King resident’s garage on Sunday afternoon going through the garbage, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD).

It wasn’t the first time the bears were seen in the community about 80 miles north of downtown Phoenix. The bears weren’t aggressive toward people but had developed a comfort level in human areas, so AZGFD officials decided moving them was the best course of action.

Real estate giant to demolish Tempe office, double land use with industrial campus

Private real estate developer Lincoln Property Co. acquired 16.25-acre Tempe industrial property that sits minutes away from the Sky Harbor International Airport, according to a press release.

The global real estate giant plans to demolish the current single-story building located at 1515 W. 14th Street. Lincoln will then transform the $18.3 million property into a high-end industrial campus called Sky Harbor Logistics.

Developers plan to start construction on the new project during the second quarter of 2025.

The property was built in 1977 as industrial space and was remodeled in 2016 into office suites. The current space occupies 218,268 square feet and has a 1,044-space parking garage.

CarMax is leasing part of the building, but the current lease is coming to an end.
