Wayback Burgers to open first Arizona location in Gilbert

Apr 30, 2022, 8:00 AM

PHOENIX — Connecticut-based franchise Wayback Burgers announced Friday it will open its first Arizona location in the East Valley later this year.

The fast-casual restaurant will be located in Gilbert near Warner and Gilbert roads and is expected to open in the fall of 2022, according to a press release.

Once completed, the location is expected to add about 30 new jobs to the area.

The 1,807-square-foot dine-in restaurant will have a kitchen visible through glass windows, with upholstered banquettes, booths and community tables.

The menu features cooked-to-order burgers, as well as cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches and sides, including onion rings and mac and cheese bites.

The Valley location will be owned and operated by local franchisee Ramesh Velupillaimani.

“Wayback Burgers’ exceptional customer service initially attracted me to becoming a franchisee,” Velupillaimani said in the release.

“I look forward to the possibility of opening additional Wayback Burgers locations in Arizona and hope to help expand the restaurant’s local footprint.”

The company currently operates in 35 states with over 166 locations nationally and internationally.
