Man killed in vehicle-pedestrian collision on 43rd Avenue in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A man was killed Wednesday night in a vehicle-pedestrian collision in west Phoenix, authorities said.

The pedestrian was hit while crossing 43rd Avenue near Clarendon Avenue, south of Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene around 8 p.m. and found the victim suffering from serious injuries along with the vehicle that struck him.

The 43-year-old pedestrian, whose name was not released, died after being taken to a hospital.

“Preliminary information suggests the man was attempting to cross the street outside any marked crosswalks when he was struck by the vehicle,” Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said in a press release. “Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.”

No other details about the vehicle-pedestrian collision were made available. The investigation is ongoing.
