Twin brothers arrested, 1 on murder count, for Phoenix apartment shooting

PHOENIX – Twin brothers have been arrested in connection with a Phoenix apartment shooting last week that left one man dead and two bystanders injured, authorities said Monday.
Devon Laterrell Bean, 33, was booked Saturday on multiple counts, including second-degree murder, after being released from a hospital, the Phoenix Police Department said.
Deon Montrell Bean was also booked on multiple counts, including tampering with physical evidence.
Devon Bean and Quincy Deon McCoy, 31, were among four people hit by gunshots around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 at an apartment complex near 28th Street and Broadway Road.

According to court documents, Devon Bean and McCoy were engaged in an argument in the courtyard area of the complex that allegedly escalated into a shootout between the two men.
Deon Bean also allegedly was at the scene and fired a gun during the incident. According to the probable cause statement for his arrest, Deon Bean took his wounded brother to a hospital and threw evidence in a trash bin near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Police found McCoy on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day.
Stray bullets went into a nearby apartment and hit a 20-year-old man and 12-year-old boy in their shoulders, according to court documents. They were hospitalized for their injuries and later released.
Deon Bean was arrested Friday night after police interviewed him. His bond was set at $10,000.
Devon Bean was arrested Saturday afternoon upon his release from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. His bond was set at $1 million.
Initial reports indicated that the three men involved in the shooting were brothers, but police said Monday that McCoy was a childhood friend of the twins.
