Area near Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix cleared due to suspicious bag

PHOENIX — A suspicious bag prompted temporary evacuations in the area of the Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Turning Point USA is the political youth organization founded by slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The area near 48th Street and Beverly Road, south of Baseline Road, was cleared and the bomb squad was called in as a precaution, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

No threat found at Turning Point headquarters in Phoenix

The incident did not involve a threat, and the bag was eventually determined to be safe, police said.

Kirk was shot and killed during an Sept. 10 event at a Utah college.

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are among the dignitaries scheduled to speak Sunday at a memorial service for Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

Last weekend, a 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly destroying a community memorial to Kirk outside the Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix.
