Arizona tribal police officer accused of sexually abusing 3 victims, 1 minor while on duty

PHOENIX — An Arizona tribal police officer has been charged with the sexual abuse of three victims while on duty from December 2020 to September 2023.

Karl Eugene Leslie, a 42-year-old White Mountain Apache Tribal Police officer, was charged on Dec. 23, 2025, with a total of 15 counts of aggravated sexual abuse, kidnapping, sexual abuse through fear, sexual abuse through coercion and deprivation of rights under color of law.

Leslie had been employed as an officer on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, which is situated about 150 miles northeast of Phoenix, from 2007 to 2024, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

The alleged instances of sexual abuse while on duty occurred between Dec. 1, 2020 and Sept. 25, 2023. Each of the three victims are members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

The federal indictment toward Leslie states that he “forcibly raped and kidnapped two of the three victims” while he on two occasions abused the third individual, who was identified as a minor.
