Phoenix police officer thrown from parked car in collision, impairment suspected

A Phoenix police officer was hospitalized after being hit and thrown from his parked vehicle while at a police facility late Friday night, authorities said.

The officer is stable after suffering non-life-threatening injuries, the Phoenix Police Department said.

An SUV was driven from a parking lot north of the Phoenix PD Mountain View Precinct through a fence and through land into the marked police Tahoe, which was at fuel pumps inside the facility, police said.

Police believe impairment was a factor in the collision.

No other property damage or injuries were reported.

Authorities are investigating and have not determined any charges.
