Tool coming to Glendale after releasing highly anticipated new album

PHOENIX – Arizona’s most famous winemaker is hitting the road this fall with his bandmates, including a show in his adopted state.

That’s right, Maynard James Keenan and Tool didn’t just release their looooooooooooong-awaited new album Friday; they also announced a slate of North American shows in October and November.

The prog metal titans will stop at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Oct. 23.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. Arizona time.

Industrial pioneers Killing Joke are scheduled to open all dates of the tour, which kicks off Oct. 15 in Denver and wraps up Nov. 25 in Washington, D.C.

Tool broke their 13-year drought of new material Friday with the release of “Fear Inoculum.”

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated album, the band’s back catalog of studio recordings was made available for the first time on streaming services earlier this month.

Tool’s last Arizona appearance was as the headline act at the Monster Mash festival at Tempe Beach Park on Halloween night in 2015.

At that show, the band gave fans their first glimpse of new music since 2006’s “10,000 Days” with an instrumental version of what would become “Descending” on “Fear Inoculum.”

When not belting out songs with Tool and his other projects, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, Keenan operates his Jerome-based wine business.

Earlier this year he opened the Merkin Vineyards tasting room and restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale.
