Tesla driver killed in fiery single-vehicle crash in West Valley neighborhood

PHOENIX – A Tesla driver was killed in a fiery single-vehicle collision in a West Valley neighborhood on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

The electric vehicle crashed and caught fire in Buckeye’s Tartesso master-planned community around 5 p.m., according to the Buckeye Police Department.

A Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department hazmat crew was called to the scene near Celeborn Drive and Thomas Road.

The Tesla driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was found dead after the fire was extinguished.

Police investigators took over the scene after it was cleared of hazardous material exposure.

They made a preliminary identification of the driver but are waiting for official confirmation from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office before releasing his name.
