5 injured after being ejected from car during alleged street race in Tempe

PHOENIX — Five people were hospitalized after a car they were in crashed during an alleged street race in Tempe, according to authorities.

The Tempe Police Department said the crash happened around 8:15 p.m. on Monday near Scottsdale Road and Rio Salado Parkway.

What led up to crash during alleged street race in Tempe?

The department said a Ford Mustang was racing a motorcycle and headed west on Rio Salado Parkway when the Mustang crashed while attempting to turn.

All five people who were inside the Mustang were ejected.

They were later taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries, which are all considered to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

The motorcyclist returned to the scene of the crash.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation into this crash is still open.
