Tempe Police ask for public’s help identifying car in hit-and-run that left teen injured

The Tempe Police Department is asking for help identifying a vehicle of interest in a hit-and-run that left a teen injured last week.

A 16-year-old girl was hit by a car while in a crosswalk near Baseline Road and 48th Street just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, police said.

Authorities believe the car involved in the collision is a dark gray, 2014-2016 Mazda 3, four-door sedan.

They noted that the vehicle likely has significant damage to the front driver’s side, including the driver’s side headlight and front bumper. Police added that the car will probably be missing a substantial portion, if not all, of its front bumper cover.

Anyone with information regarding a possible vehicle of interest is asked to contact the department at 480-350-8311. Tips can also be sent anonymously by texting it with the keyword “TEMPEPD” to 847411 or through the department’s website.
