Man arrested after allegedly killing wife, her coworker at Tempe pizza shop

PHOENIX – A man was arrested after allegedly killing his wife and her coworker at a Tempe pizza shop on Monday morning, authorities said.

The deadly shooting happened at the Little Caesars near Rural and Guadalupe roads, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Officers in the area heard gunshots and responded to the scene. When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Benjamin Andrew Visser with a gun in his hand and two people with gunshot wounds.

Two Tempe pizza shop employees killed, including suspect’s wife

Shaquille Simmons, 32, and 21-year-old Mary Visser, the suspect’s wife, were taken to a hospital, where they died from their injuries.

The victims worked at the pizza shop.

Benjamin Visser was arrested and booked into jail on two counts of first-degree murder. His bond was set at $2 million.

It was the first of two deadly shootings in Tempe on Monday morning.

Around 11 a.m., one person was shot to death in a parking lot outside Road Runner Sports in Tempe Marketplace. A suspect in that case was arrested the next day.
