Teenager killed in car-pedestrian collision on Thomas Road in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A teenager was killed in a car-pedestrian collision in west Phoenix on Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Pascal Asukulu, 17, was walking near Thomas Road and 57th Avenue around 6 p.m. when he was hit, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release Thursday.

“Preliminary information indicates that Asukulu was in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an adult male going east on Thomas Road,” Sgt. Rob Scherer said in the release.

“Impairment is believed to be a factor.”

Asukulu was pronounced dead at the scene by Phoenix Fire Department responders.

The driver remained at the scene.

No other details were immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
