13-year-old boy hit by truck, seriously injured while riding bike to school in Glendale
A teenager was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Friday after getting hit by a pickup truck while heading to school in Glendale.

PHOENIX – A teenager was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a vehicle while heading to school in Glendale on Friday morning, authorities said.
The 13-year-old boy apparently was not wearing a helmet while riding his bike near 67th Avenue and Deer Valley Road, according to the Glendale Police Department.
The teenager was heading north on 67th Avenue and a pickup truck was turning right from Hillcrest Avenue onto southbound 67th Avenue when the collision occurred around 7 a.m., police said.

The boy was listed in stable but critical condition after being rushed to a hospital.
The truck driver, who stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, didn’t show signs of impairment, police said.
The intersection of 67th Avenue and Hillcrest Boulevard, north of Deer Valley Road, was closed in all directions while the scene was under investigation.
Authorities didn’t say what school the boy attends. The collision location is near Hillcrest Middle School and Mountain Ridge High School. Both campuses are part of Deer Valley School District, which started classes for the new school year on Thursday.
No other details about the incident were immediately available.

This young man was not wearing a helmet and this was an electric bike and I’m so sad and praying That he fully recovers, and unfortunately, he should not have been an electric bike, let Alone in a crosswalk. I feel horrible for the person that hit him because these electric bikes in our neighborhood go very fast and I’ve seen the majority of them are wearing helmets even Though Arizona doesn’t require you wearing helmets on motorcycles

Vehicles are too high to even see a kid, and the speed limits are too high to stop in time. Another victim of America's obsession with driving tanks at highway speeds through neighborhoods.
