An investigation is underway after a teenage driver died in a rollover crash in Phoenix on Wednesday night, authorities said.
The Phoenix Police Department said a second vehicle was being driven aggressively alongside 17-year-old Jordan Cux Blas when Blas lost control of his Toyota Tundra pickup on Cave Creek Road about 10 p.m.
Blas’ truck, which was heading south, hit a curb just south of Hatcher Road before rolling over into a fence, police said.
Phoenix Fire Department crews responded and initiated lifesaving measures before pronouncing Blas dead at the scene.
The other vehicle was driven by a 17-year-old boy whose name was not released. He remained at the scene and did not exhibit signs of impairment when contacted by police.
“The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation pending a collision reconstruction. Findings from the completed investigation will determine any applicable charges,” Sgt. Chris Berrelleza said in a media advisory.
