Suspect outstanding after shooting in north Phoenix leaves 1 dead

PHOENIX — Police are searching for a suspect after one person was killed in a shooting in north Phoenix on Thursday morning, authorities said.
At around 2:22 a.m., officers responded to a shooting on 32nd Street and Greenway Road where they found 47-year-old Joseph Gaona with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died due to his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing. No other information about a suspect was made available.
Authorities also asked that anyone with information about the suspect reach out to Phoenix Police or call Silent Witness anonymously at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.
(UPDATE: Police announced on Jan. 3, 2025, that 35-year-old Michael Miller has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting.)
