PHOENIX — A new survey about the public’s attitude toward marijuana found Arizonans are some of the most enthusiastic in the nation about the drug.
Real estate site Estately ranked Arizona the tenth-highest state when it comes to marijuana enthusiasm in the country.
To compile its rankings, Estately used certain criteria, such as the number of marijuana users, average price of the drug, general interest in cannabis and the drug’s legal status, for each state.
While recreational pot is not legal in Arizona, the medicinal marijuana laws were found to be fairly relaxed. Estately also took into consideration the legalization ballot measure, which is set to be voted on in 2016.
Arizona also had the tenth-highest number of cannabis-related Google searches, according to Google Trends.
The state had the 15th-highest percentage of people who reported using cannabis in the previous month, based off statistics from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Estately also weighed in data from Facebook user interest in various marijuana publications. Arizonans ranked fifth in that category.
Colorado was ranked the most enthusiastic state when it comes to pot. The state legalized recreational use of the drug in 2012.
At the bottom of the list was North Dakota, which has some of the most stringent marijuana laws in the nation.
