Suspect allegedly rammed stolen Hummer into parked Scottsdale police vehicle

PHOENIX – A man was arrested last week after he allegedly crashed a stolen Hummer into a parked Scottsdale police vehicle, authorities said.

Lyle Dennis Harmon Jr. is accused of stealing the SUV before using it to ram a patrol vehicle around 4:30 a.m. Friday near Hayden and Thomas roads, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

The officer inside the police vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Harmon was taken into custody and hospitalized overnight for unspecified injuries. He was then booked into jail on multiple felony counts, including vehicle theft, aggravated assault on a police officer, burglary and probation violation.

Harmon’s bond was set at $50,000.

The owner of the stolen Hummer, which has a camouflage paint scheme, told police the SUV was taken from outside his pawn shop in the strip mall.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said the stolen vehicle was a Humvee, as originally reported by the Scottsdale Police Department. The arrest report, however, said it was a Hummer — civilian version of a Humvee military vehicle.
