Alleged drunk driver arrested after crash that injured officer in Scottsdale

PHOENIX — An injured officer was sent to the hospital after a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in Scottsdale on Saturday night, authorities said Tuesday.

Scottsdale police said the crash happened at about 10:20 p.m. on Saturday just south of Scottsdale and Thomas roads.

A Scottsdale police SUV, which was unoccupied, marked and had its lights on, was at a traffic stop when a woman driving a white Volkswagen Tiguan ran into it.

The woman was identified as 28-year-old Jensen Borkowski.

The crash pushed the police SUV into another police SUV that was in front of it.

The second police SUV had an officer inside. That officer suffered injuries that are considered non-life-threatening.

They were evaluated by medics at the scene, then taken to a nearby hospital by another officer for further evaluation.

The vehicle that had been pulled over by Scottsdale police was not damaged. None of the people who were inside that car was injured.

Borokowski was arrested about 20 minutes after the crash and is facing multiple charges for driving under the influence, including extreme DUI, which means she allegedly had a blood alcohol level above .15%. The legal limit is .08%.

Both Scottsdale police SUVs that were hit and damaged were towed from the scene.
