PHOENIX — A new speakeasy-style bar has opened in north Phoenix.

Pigtails Cocktail Bar made its debut in Desert Ridge Marketplace, near Tatum Boulevard and Loop 101, on Tuesday as an expansion of The Whining Pig Beer and Wine Bar.

“Pigtails is a great place to grab a cocktail and create memories with friends and family,” Matt Fulton, co-owner of both businesses, said in the release.

The new bar features a “secret” bookshelf exit and a long list of specialty cocktails, including tequilas mixed with fresh fruit.

Pigtails also has plush seating, a wall covered in live plants and walls with copper detailing.

“This elevated speakeasy perfectly aligns with the evolution of Desert Ridge Marketplace and our commitment to provide unique concepts to the North Valley community,” Jenny Cushing, vice president of leasing at Vestar, the firm that owns the shopping center, said in the release.

The Whining Pig has four other locations in Phoenix and one in Gilbert.
